State Representative Mike Rodrigues spoke at the WBTB October General Meeting at White's of Westport. Members were informed of the economic climate at the state level. Rep. Rodrigues also discussed the effects on Chapter 70 and Chapter 90 funding at the local level if Question #1 passed.

WBTB Member Lafrance Hospitality won first place in "Best in Show" at the SouthCoast Business Expo on October 22nd at White's of Westport.

WBTB to Hold Dinner Meeting
WBTB's General Meeting for November will be held Thursday, November 20th at 6:00 pm at the Westport Council on Aging, 75 Reed Road.
Mary Ellen Gomes, Director of the WCOA, will give a brief overview of the services and programs offered at the COA.
A pottery demonstration will also be performed by Wayne Fuerst of Sticks, Stones, Stars the Artisian Gallery located at 785 Main Road which represents more than 20 area artisians. You will have a chance to meet co-owner Charlie McConnell and other artisians who display their wares.
Reservations are required for this dinner meeting which will be catered by Brantel's of Tiverton. Anyone interested in the WCOA, WBTB or Sticks, Stones & Stars is welcome to attend. Norm Gauthier of Heritage Hill Partners is offering two workshops for businesses.
Mr. Gauthier was a speaker at the WBTB September General Meeting and will be hosting the workshops on Wednesday, December 3, 2008
Morning Session: Designed for new businesses in the Existence & Survival Stages. The session runs from 8:00 am to 11:30 am.
Afternoon Session: For businesses at the Success-Decision stage and Success-Growth Stages. The main question for business owners is whether to exploit the company's accomplishments and expand or keep the company stable, providing a base for owner alternative activities. This session runs from 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm.
